Education

The Museum of Copenhagen offers a broad selection of educational courses that can provide primary and secondary school pupils and college students with a deeper understanding of the history of Copenhagen. The educational themes vary greatly, some examples are Royal Power and Absolute Monarchy, 19th Century Prostitution or The Emancipation of Danish Women 100 years ago.
Face to face with history
In the course of the teaching situation, pupils and students are brought face to face with artefacts, paintings, drawings and photographs of times gone by. This in turn provides them with a tangible understanding of history. Emphasis is placed upon stimulating dialogue between the museum's instructors and visiting pupils/students with a view to actively involving the latter in reaching an understanding of the relevance of the artefacts. In this way the pupils and students can also voice their opinions and interpretation of history.
Written, age differentiated educational materials have been produced in connection with some of our available courses. This material consists of a free class-set which is made available on the purchase of one of these courses.
Special courses for Teachers
The Museum's Educational Services offer a series of courses on the museum's collections in relation to the available educational courses aimed at teachers.
Walking Tours
The Museum of Copenhagen offers walking tours to classes, with a view to providing them with images of different historical periods and themes. It is also our aim to hereby provide pupils and students with a visual and sensory supplement to their normal learning context.
School classes and kindergarten groups may visit the exhibitions on their own, free of charge, if they wish to do so.
